It's a GREAT YEAR to be in CHORUS!!!
I am very excited about the journey that we will take together this year. I look forward to a great year of singing, competitions, festivals, and all around learning.
Conyers Middle School has a long legacy of offering programs of quality, distinction, and excellence. Our choral program will continue in that legacy as we offer several opportunities for our students to grow and experience music at all levels. This year’s choral program promises to be one that will engage the minds of our young musicians in order to shape them as lifelong participants and patrons of the arts.
Our Goals this year are:
Exponential Growth- We will grow and stabilize the size of our choral program membership.
Growing Musicians- While much of choral performance is about singing, at least 50% of our time will be spent on musicianship. This includes areas such as sight-reading, music history, music theory, and music appreciation. Performances will also be highlighted with music in various languages from around the world in a variety of music genres.
Networking- Plans have been made for our students to participate in multiple festivals, competitions, and performances throughout the year. It is important for our student’s growth as musicians to have multiple opportunities to meet both peers and other choral directors from all over to help shape their understanding and expertise in choral music.
We have a busy year ahead of us. I welcome parent involvement because without you, our plans will never come to pass. I practice an open-door policy and will be glad to speak to you about any concerns or questions you may have. Feel free to contact me at 770-483-3371 or via email at [email protected] .
I know that this will be a great year. Together, we can “Make Music Come Alive”.
Musically Yours,
Latrecia E. Lewis
